If you own a Rolex wristwatch you may wonder how often you should service it. As a rule of thumb Rolex watches should be serviced every 5 years but this is not set in stone.

You can compare a Rolex watch to a prestige car. After so many years or a certain number of miles, your car requires a service. A Rolex is no different. In time the movement in a Rolex requires some TLC to ensure it is running smoothly. Your watch will tell you when it needs servicing as it will either gain or lose time.

When your watch requires servicing you can either send it directly back to Rolex or get it repaired through an independent Rolex workshop such as ours. Generally speaking a Rolex service in our workshop costs around £250 for a Datejust and takes around 3-4 weeks from start to finish.

During a service a watchmaker will:

  • remove the moment from the watch
  • replace any worn parts
  • change the mainspring
  • re-lubricate everything
  • regulate the watch to make sure the time keeping is perfect
  • fit a new seal and then pressure test it to ensure it is water proof
  • Included in our service is a full case and bracelet refurbishment

Rolex watches are fine quality timepieces but need to be regularly serviced to ensure they last forever.
