A right hand ring is an item of jewellery that tends to live in the shadows of the more commonly discussed engagement and wedding rings. This is not to say it isn’t popular. In fact, last year we saw an increase in popularity in bespoke diamond right hand rings at our Harrogate store. But, what is a right hand ring and what does it symbolise….?
In contrast to engagement and wedding rings, a right hand ring is a piece of jewellery that is specifically worn on a woman’s right hand. It can be worn by either married or single women for a variety of reasons:
1. A right hand ring can be seen as a fashion statement where a woman has the freedom to express herself and her tastes. There isn’t a specific style of right hand ring that someone tends to conform to unlike engagement rings. They can range from colourful, elaborate pieces to something more discrete.
2. A right hand ring can be rather symbolic in its meaning. Whilst engagement and weddings rings signal love and marriage, a right hand ring can symbolise affection, friendship and success.
3. A right hand ring can be an ideal gift for a woman on an anniversary, birthday or other special occasion. It doesn’t have to be presented to someone you’re married to but rather a family member, close friend or partner.
4. A right hand ring is often associated with a woman’s independence, especially if they have bought it for themselves.
A right hand ring can be rather symbolic for a woman and is a piece of jewellery ideal for someone whether they are single or married.
